Negative space photography is a style of photography using a subject and surrounding it is a plain background.  It is opposite of silhouette photography because the subject is your focus point.  It establishes a singular being. The use of equal negative space, as a balance to positive space, in a composition is considered by many as good design. The use of negative space is a key element of artistic composition. Some examples of negative space photography are a bug on the sidewalk because the sidewalk is blank and the bug is your focus point.

Silhouette photography is the image of a person, an object or scene consisting of the outline as well as a featureless interior. You take a silhouette photo by pointing the camera towards the sun making your photo just a silhouette. It doesn’t show the detail of the item you are taking the photo of. Many photographers use this technique to create a cool silhouette image of landscape, people, and objects.

What I have learned so far has made me a better photographer. I learned how to used a camera in manual, which professional photographers use. I learned many different styles of taking photographs as well. There is line photography, shape photography, light graffiti, and cubism. Line photography is when you take a photograph using lines. Shape photography is when you take photographs outlining certain geometrical shapes. Cubism is showing different point of views through shapes in photos.  Some projects we have done are the magazine ad and trimal project. The magazine ad taught me different ways to use your imagination and create something that will be pleasing and make others want to buy it. The trimal project was a fun project using all tools of Photoshop getting us even more familiar with it. I have done many text tutorials as well making me comfortable with Photoshop. I’ve also learned that Rachel is the best TA EVER!
